running running, as fast as we can...
so naturally i suck. I said I would update the blog at the very least about my running but I’ve failed to even do that. But I guess in my defense there was about 2 weeks or so where I was busy with MLB Playoffs and a little something called my birthday and my whole training schedule was thrown off. I repeated Week 2 of my training like 3 times. But I’m back on it! I’m proud to say that I officially registered myself and my brother for the Plymouth Rock ‘n Run. It’s a 5K happening on Thanksgiving morning. It’s nerve-wracking and exciting all at the same time mostly cause running is more of a private thing I do and now I’ll be doing it with a ton of other people outside at a park by my house and be timed for it. In preparation for it i decided to change my training up a bit and start outside running. I went to said park where the 5K will be held. It turns out the trail inside the park is equal to 5K as is illustrated on the map at the start of the trail. So I ran it this past weekend. Now obviously running 3 miles on a treadmill is different from running 3 miles outside but holy crap was I sore after it. But the good news was I did it. Not once but twice even through the soreness the next day. After doing it I realize I can’t run on the treadmill anymore. I don’t get the same high that I did running outside those two mornings passing other runners and walkers muttering a quick breathless “hello” to each one. The only problem is I wake up at 530 during the week and am out the door by 630 and now that time has changed I don’t get home ‘til 7:30 or later and it’s pitch black by that time so I’m having a hard time trying to figure it out during the week.
Anyhow, this weekend I head to San Francisco for my dad’s birthday and to see the Titans play the 49ers (if only it were a better year for my team) and since I took Friday off my brother and I are going to squeeze in another run before we sit in a car for 7 hours. I have only 2 1/2 weeks before the 5K and even though I know I can run 3.1 miles easy i’m still nervous about it. At least the plus is after I run it I get to stuff myself with Thanksgiving goodies :)
